Moving to Liguria
A favourite of many in the community: one of the country's mildest Mediterranean climates, an elegant coast, lively but not tourist-trampled towns - and yet the northern core and southern France right nearby. Genova is the only big city, the rest are small seaside towns (Savona, La Spezia, Sanremo). The main downside is an extremely tight rental market across the whole region.

Genova is a major port with its own employment; across the region it is tourism, services and the season. By the community many work remotely here, while the local market for skilled work is small; you can open a partita IVA on the ricevuta and codice fiscale, though as a non-resident taxes are higher. Milano and Turin are 1-1.5 hours away, which widens the options. Check current information yourself.

A moderate Russian-speaking community: there are chats for the larger cities (Genova, Savona, La Spezia), but no big business clusters. Many end up choosing smaller towns to live in and travel to Genova for errands and walks.

Community voices
We always wanted to move near Genova, but ended up settling near Savona. Why? After going through about two thousand rental listings across Liguria, I got just six options to view, and only one was decent. The climate and the sea here, though, are wonderful.
I drove through Tuscany and Piemonte - liked it all, but Liguria draws me the most. The sea, a mild climate, and yet not the remote south but the north with all its logistics.
