An official bilingual brochure (Italian and Russian) «Come funziona l istruzione superiore in Italia», published by the Come center for foreign teenagers and their parents. It explains how the Italian school system works: compulsory education lasts ten years, until sixteen, and applies to all foreign children regardless of whether they have a permesso di soggiorno. The whole ladder is shown: scuola dell infanzia from age three, scuola primaria, scuola secondaria di primo grado and the five-year scuola secondaria di secondo grado, where families choose between lyceums (licei), technical and professional institutes and the IFP track. It includes the legal basis (D.Lgs. 76/2005, D.M. 139/2007), the enrollment procedure, the school calendar, the school information sheet and a useful addresses section. Especially relevant for families with children aged fourteen and older facing the high school choice.
